Art Armstrong was a builder of both community and airplanes, a dedicated aviator whose presence helped shape the Northwest Antique Airplane Club for decades. Alongside his wife and fellow pilot, Linde, Art became a familiar sight in their red and white Tiger Moth marked with a maple leaf, often flying spirited sorties with friends out of Evergreen Field. He was a driving force in the club's history, signing the 1978 Articles of Incorporation, serving as Vice President and President, and continuing for many years as a board member and mentor. Whether restoring Citabrias, helping at fly-ins, or brewing coffee for early-morning pilots, Art's love of aviation was inseparable from his love of people.
Born in Perth, Ontario, Art lived a live of ingenuity and adventure, working in construction , sales, and design before finding his lasting home in Vancouver, Washington. He and Linde filled their decades together with flying, rebuilding aircraft, and strengthening the friendships that defined Evergreen Field's vibrant community. Known for his generosity, humor, and tireless dedication, Art left a legacy in the skies and in the clubhouse he helped establish. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will always fly with NWAAC.
